Wildlife Guardians

During the school holidays your kids can become Wildlife Guardians and spend the day with the keepers behind-the-scenes in the Animal Park. Activities include:

  • learning about conservation and caring for our wildlife
  • design and build a reptile enclosure
  • create enrichment for the wombats and native birds

Numbers are strictly limited so book in early to avoid disappointment
Age: 7-12 years
Limit: 10 per workshop
Time: 9am to 3.30pm (register 8.30am)
Cost: $80
Includes: lunch, afternoon tea & certificate of participation

Keeper For a Day

Be a Park Keeper for a Day – Your teenagers can spend a day behind the scenes with one of our senior keepers. Find out what working in a captive animal facility is all about. Learn about the conservation of our local wildlife, animal husbandry practises and work at creating and providing enrichment for our animals. Runs during school holidays only

Age: 12-18 years

Critter Capture with Franki Kaneur

Do you have a budding performer, artist, photographer or animal lover?

In this short day workshop you will get creative and crafty, sing and perform, all inspired by the animals in our Animal Park.

Each interactive workshop is designed to inspire creative young people, focusing on singing and performance as well as craft and photography. Under the guidance of local performer Frank Kaneur, participants children will participate in a range of artistic pursuits based around the subject of animals.

Participants will first go on a tour of the Animal Park then come into the conference room to undertake a range of projects including –

  • Making animal facemasks
  • Dancing
  • Singing
  • Decorating cupcakes
  • Photography/videography session out in the Park

Participants should bring along their camera, phone or tablet.

About our facilitator

Franki Kaneur is a young Australian singer/songwriter located in the hinterlands of Byron Bay. Franki released her first single ‘You Hate Me and I Love It’ in September 2019 and was a finalist in the Tones and I “That One Song” competition.

Participants should bring along their camera, phone or tablet and a charger.

The NSW Government’s Creative Kids voucher can be redeemed in this workshop.

Cost: $125.
A $25 deposit will be charged at the time of booking and on the day of the workshop participants can present their Creative Kids voucher or pay the $100 balance.

Creature Keeper One on One
(for NDIS planholders and children with a disability)

We know that for children with a disability, interacting with animals can provide countless benefits towards general well-being, developing a sense of responsibility, social inclusion and increased functionality.

This program offers a safe experience designed to build a participant’s independence, confidence, skills and knowledge of wildlife. Participants spend a day with our Head Keepers, learning about animals and how we care for them.

The sights, sounds, smells and immersive environment of the Animal Park allows for self-paced discovery of living things. Participants are encouraged to connect with animals and nature to develop confidence, engagement and communication.

Activities include – 
Creating and providing enrichment object for a range of animals
Feeding (aviary hand feed, treats to goats, alpacas, calves with milk, koala top up browse)
Handling (walking animals, time in the sun for reptiles)
Grooming (brushing and washing Farmyard animals)
Helping cleaning enclosures or providing bedding to animals

Limit: 1 per workshop. If you feel the participant requires additional care we welcome you to bring along their carer for free park admission. Please note this at time of booking.
$300 per workshop (Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays)

Face Painting

Who doesn’t love a face paint? Boys, girls, toddlers and teens, all welcome for free facepainting every Sunday and every day during the NSW school holidays. 11am-2pm.

Currently not running due to government restrictions relating to COVID-19 and social distancing.
