Creature Keeper – One on One
A program designed for children with a disability
We are now also delivering our Creature Keeper program in a modified format for those that want a personal experience
We know that for children with a disability, interacting with animals can provide countless benefits towards general well-being, developing a sense of responsibility, social inclusion and increased functionality.
This program offers a safe experience designed to build a participant’s independence, confidence, skills and knowledge of wildlife. Participants spend three hours with one of our Head Keepers, learning about animals and how we care for them.
The sights, sounds, smells and immersive environment of the Animal Park allows for self-paced discovery of living things. Participants are encouraged to connect with animals and nature to develop confidence, engagement and communication.
Activities include –
Creating and providing enrichment object for a range of animals
Feeding (aviary hand feed, treats to goats, alpacas, calves with milk, koala top up browse)
Handling (walking animals, time in the sun for reptiles)
Grooming (brushing and washing Farmyard animals)
Helping cleaning enclosures or providing bedding to animals
If you feel the participant requires additional care we welcome you to bring along their carer for free park admission.
