Do you love animals and photography? Capturing great images and clips of animals requires a combination of an understanding of photography and an anticipation and knowledge of animals and their behaviour.

In this workshop you will learn specialised animal photography methods and tips from qualified Keeper and our in-house photographer Nicolle Phillips. Take the opportunity to finesse and improve your skills while getting up close and personal to the many extraordinary animals at the Macadamia Castle.

This workshop covers methods to capture the trickiest of creatures. It is perfect for those with an interest in photography who are looking for the opportunity to further develop their skills using the guidance and knowledge of a trained animal handler and photographer while having special access to a range of different species.

One of the highlights of this workshop at our Animal Park is that is provides plenty of diversity with our subjects and settings allowing for experimentation. Nicolle can also provide access to areas and animals not normally accessible by the public

The day begins with a discussion in our conference room to understand every persons wish list. We then explore the  Animal Park where participants can implement strategies and take guidance from Nicolle, participate in practical experimentation and take the opportunity to capture still images and clips of a variety of animals.

Participants should bring along their camera, phone or tablet.

About our facilitator

Nicolle Phillips

Nicolle has been working in the Animal Park as a Keeper since 2016, but has been photographing animals and wildlife for much longer. She spent her high school years volunteering at a local animal shelter. , Nicolle  initially taught herself photography skills so she could photograph the adoptable cats and dogs in the hopes that nicer images would make them more appealing to potential adopters.

These days she loves photographing the animals she works with at the Macadamia Castle, because she feels that it’s through these photos that she can show everyone just how unique and beautiful our wildlife is.

Suitable for 12 years and over.

Cost: $125

Time: 10am to-3pm course time (participants are welcome to stay in the Animal Park until close a 5pm).

Each student will be required to provide the Castle with three of their best shots from the day for us to share on our Facebook page. The photos taken on the day may be used by the photographer for any not for profit use. They may not be used for any commercial purpose
